Default Injector Q??

Im lookin to buy a 12v Cummins here in the next month or so, When i get i want to put injectors in it. I was lookin at bosch, and i was tellin my buddy about it and he said they dont have the right spray angle. I was wondering if this was true and if it is what it would do to my motor if i were to put them in anyways? thanks alot guys!! P.S. What size do you think is ok for a stock motor? I want smoke but i also want fuel economy!! i was thinkin 90hp's

you'd be better off just to slide the fuel plate and turn the pump up before you get injectors, but before you do any of that get a good set of guages.

Oh and smoke and fuel economy dont really fit in the same sentence.

well my buddy that i was talkin to has a 90 12v and he has the pump turned up with prince of darkness injectors and he gets 22 mpg. So i kinda thought i would get the same with a new 12v. I dont know to much about them really i know how to work on them but i dont know how to make any power out of them.

you cant get any easier than a 12v to make power, there will be guys on here that can give a more detailed explanation on how to turn up the ol cummins, if you grind and slide the plate and turn it up a little you'll be able to roll coal pretty good.

Yeah if you can keep your foot out of it enough you should be able to get decent 18-20 mpg, but the more you roll the more the toll $$$$.

i know more people will see this and be able to help ya out more. havent messed around to much with the 12v's

Slow down a little - what year of 12V are you talking about? There are 2 different injector pumps on 12V's and they also have different injectors.

The first gen 12V's (89-93) got the rotary VE injector pump and I believe that the POD's (Prince of Darkness) are the desired injectors. Yes, they smoke a lot but they also add a good deal of power to a pretty underpowered engine. I dont know a whole lot about what other injectors are available for the first gen 12V but Im sure someone else will chime in. Heres a good how-to for turning up the VE pump:

Now, if we are talking about a second gen 12V thats something entirely different. It has the more reliable inline P-7100 injector pump and there are a number of different injectors available that make verying degrees of extra HP. As well there are free things you can do to the injector pump to squeeze out that little bit extra.
