Evil is right. Personally grinding plates is bad news. Swapping is better because then you can always go back if you aren't impressed. When sliding a 4 or a 2 or a 0 forward you will also need to adjust the AFC and the idle or it will stall out. In addition, adding springs specifically the 3000 governer spring will greatly enhance the power band.

Add an exhaust and you are well on your way.

If I was adding injectors to a 1994 to 1998 12V I would go with Dynomite personally. They make a great product that has really nice power, great mileage and doesn't smoke unless you want it to.

On this series of truck, properly modded you can expect 28+ on the HWY easy.

Evil, then it is time for a new TC. I did lots of work on a 1996 12V (others did the transmission) and the mileage went from low teens to high 20's. New injectors, twins, springs, dv's, air box, 4" exhaust, TC, VB and other associated upgrades. The truck is amazing and has gobs of power to boot.

I'm afraid, you sir need a smoke... LOL...

Anyway,

Injectors are only part of the equation for bombing a 12V with a P-7100. Theres some good reading here:

That's easy to do. Crank it up and keep your foot out of it and you will be laughing all the way home. The transmission is the key along with the TC lockout that is.

Straight pipe and an airfilter won't do much if the trans is shot. A 5spd would help but then you'll be looking to weld the 5th gear nut etc. Oh and don't forget the KDP...
