Default ECM Help?!

We have a 2006 Dodge 1 Ton 5.9 HO engine. This truck was bought second hand (used) to us. The original owner said it was stock. It’s obviously not. It has in creditable horsepower. We have taken to the dealership and to US Diesel Parts, Inc. neither one can tell what kind of tuner has been used but they swore it’s been altered, it’s pulling 418 horse at the rear wheel. Any suggestions to find out how it has been altered or what tuner was installed any suggestion would be greatly appreciate. I don’t want to do anything to lose the horsepower just what to change it so it doesn’t smoke so much, during acceleration or on the lower end.

Is there anything plugged into the obdII under the dash? Check your map sensor and injector wire harnesses for extra wiring pluged in to them to see if you have a tuner installed. If there isn't any extra wiring then the ecm was probably flashed by a smarty, diablo sport, ect. If the ecm was flashed and you dont have the original programmer then the only way to change it will be to have a dealer reflash the ecm back to stock and then buy a tuner or programmer of your choice. It is also possible that the injectors have been changed to bigger ones.

Can/will they confirm that *a*tuner*HAS*been*used?

"Swearing it's been altered" and confirming the existence of non-stock code in the ECM are 2 different things.

A dealer should be able to tell you if the computer has been reflashed. Where are you located? Depending on the tuning and tuner used it can sometimes be altered without having to completey re write it

Located in Missoula Montana. Previous owner swears nothing has been done to it, that it's stock. US Gomers Diesel Shop and Lithia Dodge both in Missoula say they can't pull anything on the computers but it's NOT Stock too much horsepower in rear wheels to be stock. She is sweet, don't want to lose power by taking back to stock and re- tuning, just want to stop smoke could it be the injectors going out or hanging up?
