heres the old 7.4 vortec that i spun a bearing on. and there is a reason for that. lets just say 3rd gear burnouts and hooking up at 70-80mph me be the culprit

helps when you have had the truck apart before if your doing all the work by your self.

heres the engine block after tare down due to i found out #3 piston was rubbing on the wall. no real damage to cylinder though just some aluminum left from the piston. i got a good used piston from the local cummins guru. just waiting to go to the machine shop.

the only problem is this rebuild and having the seller of the engine screw me one the stock turbo and correct manifold is my pockets are running thinso not sure when ill be able to afford the trans.

BUT here is what i have so far... hopefully it runs decent
96' block with 215hp pump
4gsk with #100 fuel plate
60lbs valve springs
head will be studded and o ringed for future fun...
Bullseye Power S362 Turbocharger Extended Tip with compressor housing race cover, T3 V-Band .70 A/R
ATI balancer

now considering running an auto instead of a nv4500. not sure
I will probably have to find a exhaust manifold as he shipped me the RV one i believe it is where its off set to one side and has a 90 angle before the turbo flange and will probably suck try and even spool a stock turbo with it.

truck also has a 4:10 gear in it now will probably have to swap it out if i do auto to get a decent cruising RPM

dont know if anyone is interested in my build but here's an up date!

took the engine to the machine shop today to get the block and head true and fresh, rotating assembly balanced and short block put together. not happy with the turbo i ordered going to try and send it back for an exhaust housing swap. also found a trans for a steal on the way home looks like ill be running an allison 1000 behind it

i cant remember exactly but i could call the owner of the truck it came out of it was in a 2000-02 with the 8.1 liter gas engine so i know its never been pushed anywhere near its limits one of my friends had it sitting in his pole barn. sad this is he probably gave the guy a hundred bucks for it originally

Nice trucks, its gonna be a bad rig when you get through with it

Oh and on the subject of the Allison, you will have to change out the TQ to one made for a diesel.

Here is the adapter plate, flex plate, and stand alone you should need to run it behind the Cummins:
