LOL! I about lost it when I read this. I really believe that if one has enough money, time and desire, they can make anything fit (speaking about engines here...anything else, I don't know).

I have a 1 ton 3x3 camper special chevy dually I put a 81 DT466 with a 6 speed bus tranny in.
I'm working on putting my 1991 DT466 in my 85 Military M1008 5/4 ton 4x4 chevy.

I bought an 8.3 mechanical Cummins and 7 speed Spicer to re-power my 1948 Autocar. I was limited to how long of an engine I could squeeze under the hood without hacking up the fire wall. It's about the limit on length, about 44 inches if I remember correctly.

The combo weighs about 2200 lbs also. The Autocar has a 501 gas inline 6 cylinder flathead engine which is about the same size as the Cummins.

I think if I was doing your conversion, I'd go with the 4-53T and a 5X3 transmission setup. I'd also have to have a jake.
