as for your transmission, is it going to be auto, or manual? i would say stick with the dodge tranny, as the older ones had a passenger side drop t case, just like your truck should have, it would help to know what year your engine is so we know what flywheel housing pattern you have. If your truck is a 79 it will have a fuel system set up for a carb, which should work fine, you will just need to add a return to the tank if you dont have one. A basic fuel system for a 12v should be just a pickup tube in the tank, hose ran to the lift pump, and then another hose from your injector drain to the tank.

You most likely have a Dana 44 up front and a 14 bolt Full Floater out back for axles. You should be good on both up to about 400hp or so. After that you might start having issues. I would suggest a Dana 60 up front and the Dana 80 out back. The Dana 80 can be had from most Dodges. The Dana 60 was used on a lot of different trucks. From a Chevy it was a 1 ton and up front axle.
I am doing this swap in my 82 Chevy. As for transmission, if you want a manual I would suggest the nv4500. It is a great trans. You can opt for a Dodge one from the 2nd gen trucks as it will bolt up easy. Only down side you will need a Chevy transfer case or a 1st gen Dodge transfer case. I chose to just get the 96 and up Chevy nv4500 and swap in the Dodge input shaft so it bolts to the Cummins. That way I could use my Chevy transfer case.
Like Cumminsf150 said. The fuel system in the 79 is easy. Drop the tank and clean it out. Make sure the pickup and sender are in good condition. Add a return line if you do not already have one. If you have duel tanks make sure the valve is in good working condition. Also replace all your rubber fuel lines while you are at it. Will save you a headache later on.
If you need anymore info feel free to ask. Also if you could, try and type a little clearer so we could all understand a tad better.
