i am looking to buy a 01-05 avalanche with a blown motor and i was thinking either LS1 swap with performance, a 12 valve with 200,000 or so miles.. just wondering if someone with experience can say what is easier..

The LS1 would be much easier. Its the type of engine that the truck is made for, a SB gas V8. It would just be a "swap", while a Cummins would be more of a "conversion".

Now as to which one would be cooler, the Cummins of course
