If you don't use the stock MB air filter, how will you deal with the oil that currently works it way from the valve cover over to the air filter before draining down into the oil pan?

I've been chewing on the possibility of moving the pickup further back and I can't see where it would inhibit the oil pump by extending the pickup apx 4". My only concern is whether it would place stress on the oil pump unit. Were you guys thinking of supporting it somehow if you extended it back or do you think the rubber foot resting on the bottom of the oilpan is enough?

Looking forward to your pictures.

I have an air breather connected to mine, it tends to drain back to valve cover. I wanted to try cutting and welding a tube extension in the middle and still use the rubber foot.

The oil tube drain from the air filter has a check valve where it enters the oil pan for some reason. Do you know the purpose and would eliminating it as your describing have any ill effects?

I can only reason that its for safety, to not let oil travel back up the tube.

The 85 "Cali" version I have doesn't have the second drain tube for the breather. It just "teed" into the air supply duct before the turbo.
