Default What do you guys think???

So i have a 1991 Ford F350 Crew cab with the gas hog 460 and the P.O.S. E4OD tranny...
i can across something that i would much rather have in my truck. which is a 98 24v cummins with an alison transmission... yes this is a factory set up. this motor/transmission came out of an F-800 armored car. which also means all of this is factory FORD(yes ford) stuff... Ford OEM parts for the motor, even has ford stamped in the motor.i have been hearing two different sides to this swap.. of course one is that its going to be a pain... abd the other is that its not as hard as some ppl make it out to be. oh by the way the motor does come with EVERYTHING.. wiring harness, altanator, intercooler, ext... so let hear it guys would this be a smart move on my part?? all positive and nagative feed back welcome!!! just a young guy trying to learn and do his first swap! cant wait to hear your input!!!

Won't be as easy as a 12 valve swap, but if you're good with electrical stuff I'm sure it can be done. Be sure to do a build thread and take lots of pics

The critical question is:
Is the Allison an overdrive?

If it's not, and you plan to do highway driving, you won't like it, especially since the truck probably has between 3.54 and 4.10 gears.
An armored car probably has 4.56s and is 99% city driven.

Everything I've read says you'll likely have floor/tunnel mods to do, unless you do a body lift.
These are things that would concern me more than wiring.

Wiring is easy, if it smokes, you did something wrong.

Mark.
