im trying to swap my 47re transmission out for a speed nv 5600 manual doesanybody know what all is needed for the swap also does anybody know where to get an nv5600 trans at a good price. i know u can get the nv4500 5speed for cheap but how strong is a 5speed transmission becausei hear problems with there 3rd and 5th gears and the have the smaller 1 1/4 inch inputb shaft versus the 1 3/8 on the nv5600 andbthey have a smaller clutch than the nv5600

 

a couple facts:
not sure about 3rd
5th problems can be fixed
you can put a 1 3/8 input in the nv4500
with bigger input you can run 6 speed clutch

 

a guy told me that you have to shorten your rear drive shaft 4 inches for the auto to 6 speed swap and if you go with the nv4500 you have to lengthen it 5 inches i believe. there is a place in Pa that deals with used and wrecked dodge diesels. he quoted me 2000 for a 5 speed swap and 2500 for a 6 speed swap that was everything except the drive shaft i believe. thats about what stuff goes for around my neck of the woods. hope i helped u a little bit.
