Default 4BT Slave/Master Problem

My truck has been in the shop for a month because the Guys there cannot make the clutch slave/master hydraulics work.

The end of the slave rod keeps breaking off every time they install another one.

I need a quick fix?
If I can't get an OEM setup to work I will just buy a McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing, and work it from there.

My truck specs.
1980 Utilimaster
4BT Cummins with a GM Granny Low 4speed removed, and a NV5600 installed.

If I can get this clutch to work I am back on the road!

I have the guts ripped out of a 03 Ram dually from the flywheel down to the driveshaft. I bought a new Valair clutch, and pressure plate. New pilot bearing and I have resurfaced the 03 fly wheel.

Everything seems to lineup perfect, but the OEM hydraulics just can’t quite do the job. I have been searching out everything I can find on a hydraulic throwout bearing, and the only thing I can find is one that will fit a NV4500. I called up the Dodge Brothers, and their parts department says that that the NV4500 throwout bearing is also used in the NV5600. Gee, I sure hope so!!!

I started my research from here.

If I trash out my NV5600 I will move up to an Eaton/Fuller with an overdrive.

If my Valair clutch fails I will move up to a McLeod.

I don’t have a shop as of yet, or I would have done all the work myself.

I can use any input you might have.

Default $500.oo already Spent on new set.

Dan:

Thanks for the help.
Honestly, we have had every shop in town working on this one little problem, and we are all stymied.

Gary is at the shop, and he knows much more about it than I do.

The truck is at his shop, and we are both waiting for the hydraulic throwout bearing kit from McLeod.

I told the shop guys not to lean the transmission over on the bell housing because I didn't want them to bend the input shaft, but I think they did it anyway!

Do you think this could be the problem of why my clutch won't work right?

i doubt the input shaft bent unless they dropped it on it or something, but you could have a broken retainer or something. Do you have the right clutch fork i believe the number is 52087515, does the fork line up with the center of the hole in which the slave bolts too, can you move the fork back and forth before you put in the slave. and the dodge bearings are the same for all Nv transmissions.

When I started this conversion, we pulled everything from a 03 Ram Pickup 2wd dually.
The adapter, flywheel, bellhousing, and fork all the way to the yoke: starter included.

did you check to see if the fork lined up in the center of the hole in the bell housing for the slave, and does the fork move back and forth?
