SWEET! Thanks for the update man! 20-21 mpg for winter driving in a Wranger is pretty darned good. Typically the high is around 17 mpg with the stock 4 liter, and thats only if everything is almost perfect and you're driving it fairly easy. My wife's 2001 Grand with the 4.0 almost never breaks 17 mpg, and she drives like a granny...

Hey jahulgan, I hate to ask this of you, but would you be willing convert those AutoCad drawings to an older version? The only version of the program I have access to is AutoCad 2003 LT, and it would appear that your drawings are in a newer format. As you probably know, newer versions can read drawings created in older versions of the program - but not vice-versa.

Man, talk about tempting me to make you an offer! Good thing you're clear out in Akron and I'm in Seattle. My wife would KILL me if I bought another rig. I'd have to ditch my conversion project for sure - no two ways about it - and I've put too much work into it for that...

Like I said, good thing we're so far apart!

for trans issue you have i know the trans you have is not the best trans out there but i would probably try it just for the hell of it.You already have that and if you hate that trans that bad or goes bad down the road you can replace it with ax-15 or something else that you may be able to find out there,also depends on what you are going to use your jeep for. your bolt patern for bell housing is going to be the same so you wont have to mess with adapter plate
Hi Vlado, first post here on diesel bombers, i have been planning on a 617 to t5 swap for a yr or so and just heard of your project yesterday. From studying the mercedesshop forum a whole lot, The flywheel balancing issue some may run into is -Some 617 turbodiesels are neutral balanced/and their 38lb euro stick flywheels, and some are match off balanced-which means the swap guy has to go thru the match balancing routine with a knowlgable balancing shop ( i have wondered if a plain ol tire shop wheel balancer would work) You most likely had a zero balaned unit-and lucked out with no vibration issues,its a hit or miss thing. a lot of guys use the 240 d stick flywheel and drive shaft damper from othe benz'es in their 300d conversions (but the main thing i have ever been into benz wise is the cheapest turbodiesel engines avalable in the US) I drive a very cool 85 300cd-but really aint into benz-es that much!
and one more thing-I wouldn't bother with ANY automatic tranz conversion-they soak up too much hp.
