Is that the Mazda alternator? The alternator and power steering pump look really good. Good job over all!!!!

I would love to do this to my 2000 Jeep XJ. What kind of MPG do you get out of it?

the alt is an older GM style 140amp unit and the PS pump is from a carbed mazda b2600 4x4 truck, that bracket was a real pain to get to work .

I drive an 84 Mercedes with the same engine. The car weighs right about 3500 pounds - about the same as a stock XJ. You can expect 25 mpg - 30 mpg depending on where and how you drive it. DON'T believe the CraigsList and eBay sellers of these older Mercedes cars and engines who claim 35+ mpg. I don't know of hardly anyone driving one of these cars that even tries to claim that they consistently get more than 30 mpg average - and I belong to two or 3 Mercedes diesel forums.

I don't hotrod mine, but I don't drive like a hyper-miler either and get 25 mpg in mixed driving all the time. The best I have ever done is 33 mpg - on a 300 mile trip all highway miles, and keeping it at 60 mph the whole way. That was the most boring 5 hours of my life.

I thought the benz weighed in heaver than 3500lbs. My 300sd felt a little more hefty, I guess I will find out in a week or so when I haul off the car-less motor- for scrap.

You're right - the 300SD weighs closer to 4000 pounds - but it is nearly a foot longer than the 300CD - the model I drive...

Default 617 Bolt Pattern CAD Template

OK I am going to share a CAD File with the world. I have asked a few people to help me out with no luck. So I am doing this in-spite of them trying to sell me their work which all were wanting over $50 just for this file or they would sell me their product $300 or more + shipping (these things ain't light). I am no CAD graduate but it was not that hard and I really don't know why more people don't share their work it's not like we're going to make a million bucks off this thing. And I am a DIY kind of guy anyway.
Sorry for the ranting I just had to get that off my chest.

SO ON TO THE GOOD STUFF...

This is the bolt patten on the back of the block. If you have this cut you will either have to add the new bellhousing holes to the CAD file or drill them yourself after you get it cut.

**I AM NOT SURE IF THE BOTTOM 2 HOLES ARE RIGHT MY ADAPTER HAD THEM BUT THE OIL PAN ON MY ENGINE IS A '76 AND DID NOT HAVE THE LOWER MOUNTING HOLES ON IT.**

***DISCLAIMER***

I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU MEASURE AND RE-MEASURE BEFORE YOU PAY SOMEONE TO CUT MY TEMPLATE OUT...PEOPLE DO MAKE MISTAKES AND MAYBE YOUR BOLT PATTERN IS JUST A BIT DIFFERENT...measure 3 times cut 1

Also the thinkness of this will depend on your needs i.e. length of input shaft/bellhousing spacing

Download CAD file: 617 Rear Block Bolt Pattern.dwg or 617 Rear Block Bolt Pattern.dxf

This is what I was basing my design of

Default CAD files

Anybody else having trouble downloading the CAD files? I keep getting a broken link message.

By the way, I think posting these files is AWESOME and is true to the spirit of this forum. Thank you.
