04 3500 cummins swap
Long time dreamer, first time poster.
So I've had some experience in a diesel shop etc and recently acquired the first truck I used for repo. It's an 04 3500 chevy gas truck that's been gutted of the entire power train. I'm a long term Mopar lover as well so I'm hoping to spend a meth addiction worth of money to Cummins swap it. I figure when there's nothing to take out is the best time to get started. I've got some body work to do while I decide exactly what to do here i.e. what motor trans etc.
The last swap posts I saw when searching were from the early 2000's including a guy that was selling drop ins and doing conversions for 65/hr with approx 100 hrs per build. (I'm sure those prices are well gone by now much like his post history.)
If anyone wants to take me by the hand and give me constructive advice I'm happy to listen and share the pitfalls and document the journey for anyone else as dumb as me that comes along. I'm planning on buying the power plant well before the install so I have plenty of time to prep the drivetrain as well as the truck for what i'm sure will be a long, expensive, but hopefully rewarding process.
I greatly appreciate any constructive advice. "a fool learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from others mistakes"
