The diode did not work. Instead insert a light bulb in place of the diode.

2 ways the AL129X charges starts charging. 1, the alternator spins until it builds enough magnetism to move the slip the rings and start charging. Once charging starts the field wire goes from negative to positive. 2, instead of waiting for the alternator to build its own magnetism, 12v positive is supplied to the field wire exciting the slip rings and starts charging. The problem is without the light bulb in the circuit when 12v is applied to the momentarily grounded field wire you will blow a fuze.

Ignition on 12v applied to one side of bulb, other side of bulb goes to exciter in not charging negative state results in light bulb illumination.

Engine now cranked 12v flows throughthe bulb to the exciter causing the alternator to charge and thus feed 12v back to the light, without a negative feed the bulb goes out.

So you have a light bulb in series with the generator field source wire, is that correct?

Yes. I know I probably didn't explain that well, this thread should clear it up.

Default Ok.....now

Last thing on my list is the wiring stuff. What do you do with all old the injector wires, and other unnecessary wiring? Did you just cut and cap everything? does the computer need to be reflashed to delete all of the unused sensors, or do you just disable the check engine light?
