5.9 Cummins into 76 Chevy
I have a 76 3/4 ton Chevy with a manual 4X4 and a 96 dodge 1 ton manual 4X4. I either want to put the motor tranny and transfer case from the dodge into the Chevy plus the springs and axles if possible. Or take and put the Chevy body on the dodge frame. I was wondering which is easier and cheaper. Also looking for any extra info that would help thanks

I have the same idea as you, putting a 73-80 chevy body on a 94-02 dodge frame. It seems that everyone just puts the drivetrain into the chevy frame, and I'm not sure why. The wheelbases are only three inches different (dodge is longer), but I know I will have issues getting all the coolers to fit up front. I'm thinking with a two inch body lift, some creative thinking for the core support, and some custom body mounts it is very possible. I won't have time to dig into mine for a couple years yet, but I hope someone who has done it will pipe in, because I would like to see the results, and the problems they ran into. I'm not interested in using the chevy frame at all, since I don't like the front leaf springs on these pickups, I'd rather have the Dodge stuff, and fabricating body mounts isn't that hard; it's just getting the wheel openings to look right with the dodge frame
