my 1988 chevy crew cab 4x4 with built 400th tranny didnt hold up behind stock 5.9 cummins 2 much torque and I didnt use it 4 towing much only daily driving. Went with chevy nv4500 dodge input shaft clutch flywheel chevy 205 transfercase with gearvendor overdrive unit on back. 80 mph 1600 rpm with 4.10 gears. chevy auto might hold up behind 4bt cummins

The allison is a good transmission and I don't mean to knock it, but as far as cost goes, a Goerand build Dodge auto "only" runs about $5000 and that includes billit input, upgraded shell, sprag and tripple clutch billet converter. There is a $1000 core, but you can buy a used/burnt up core for much cheaper then that to ship to them, and end up with one heck of a trans for around $5500 shipped. I seriously considered a built auto and weighed alot of options, TH400 with gear vendor, Allison, built Dodge, 4L80E but in the end, wound up going Manual. If I had gone auto I would have gone with a Georand Dodge trans because I KNOW they are reliable and will survive behind my compound turbos Cummins and as far as strength goes, they were the best bang for the buck. To each his own, so make the decission for yourself, but keep in mind that the Cummins has HUGE torque potential and it is all to easy to turn it up a notch. So whatever you decide, make sure that it is not marginal in strength. Build it stronger then you ever thought you would need it to be, because once the horsepower bug bited you, you could end up like I did... With a heavily fueled, heavilly modified, compound turboed, beast of an engine that just loves to eat transmission. Just my 2 cents.

As near as I can tell, I am the only guy in the country building late model Chevy conversion motor mounts. You won't be able to use the ATS converter because it has a stall speed that is 700 RPM'S too high.

The late model mounts use O.E. Dodge common rail insulators and castings. These mounts are far stronger than the ist gen Dodge insulators.
