Chevy Cummins Conversions, Check In Here
Howdy folks! Im getting geared up to do a Cummins conversion into my '91 OLD body GMC and im lookin for tips and parts sources. So I kind of want to turn this into a "Chevy Cummins conversion source's/tips/tricks thread"
I'll list the links I have when I get on my other puter later. Thanks guys! :pca1: |
I'm going to do the same thing in my Suburban. Engine mounts and accessories, Trans adaptors. I'm going to run the 4L80E and use a PCS controller, and have These guys help build me a trans. I'm going to run a spearco intercooler in it as well I hope.

You might want to think twice about using the 4L80E. It wont even remotely hold the power of a stock Cummins for very long.
|
They are stronger then people give them credit for. You just have to build them like anything else. Suncoast even told me they are just as stout as a 47re when they are both built.
|
When BUILT, not when run stock.
|
I've heard both sides of the 4L80 holding up or not...personally I'd rather use a Goerand 47re but be sure to keep track of everything you do with the 4L80, I'm interested to see how well it holds up.
does anyone make a low stall billet converter for the 4L80e's? |
Yes, there are several companies that do.

I want to keep everthing inside the truck looking stock and not have to modify my driveline. I dont see why a 4l80e would not hold up to a stock cummins when they dont put that much down. My 24v only put 194hp to the ground and I know guys running 6.5s at 250 or so and they are holding. We will see, I like the way the 4l80e acts alot better then the 47re personally. They guarantee me it will hold 600hp and a 1000+ pounds of torque so we will see.
