Hey guys, drove my truck to work this morning (01.5 CTD 2500 6 spd NV5600) and backed it into my normal parking place, put it in neutral let clutch out and set parking brake, a few sec later i felt a bit of a lurch, heard a bang or something and the truck shut itself off.

Come out of work tonight, start truck and let my foot off the clutch, truck bogged down and died in NEUTRAL! Restarted it and put it in 1st, didnt move and bogged down like i was against a brick wall trying to drive through it. Every gear including Neutral will not move truck, only bogs down until it dies or i put the clutch back in. Truck WILL roll when in neutral with foot brake off. when it rolls and i let clutch out it stops itself then begins to bog down until i depress clutch.

what in the H#LL is going on here, its obviously either the clutch or the trans, but beyond that in completely clueless and we have a very limited amount of places here to look at it.

If that's exactly what happened you eliminated the possibility of the differential and transfer case. Most likely a transmission issue.
No way to determine the issue without pulling it apart. I doubt its a clutch issue.

 

update, i went back with a buddy of mine and he got the truck to move forward in neutral ONLY. no other gear would allow movement but Neutral he said was like having it in a normal gear.

 

Time for transmission rebuild is what that sounds like.

 

yeah...super....and the worst trans to have to rebuild as well.....UGH!

 

update again........truck is still moving under its power in N but 6th gear will NOT go in. so its stuck in 5th or 6th, what rail is the 6/R gear on? is it the same rail?
