i have a 96 3500 5spd the trouble im haveing is when i engage 4wheel drive it makes a grinding sound like its not going into gear all thje way was working fine all summer you can hear it grinding in the cab i do have slop in transfer case shifter ive checked linkage and from what i can tell its ok any help or advice would be nice or point me in the direction i need to go for HELP

 

maybe just a linkage adjustment is all thats needed

if it still wont say engaged then its prolly wore out

I would disconnect the linkage arm totally then turn it in with channel locks and see how it does
