Default Transfer case type?

Hi guys new to the forum here. To get to the point I have a 98 dodge 12 valve cummins 4x4. It has a nv4500 I've put in it. I've personally built the truck from donor trucks. The only problem is I have a transfer case leak and I'm not sure what the exact type is to order seals. Is there a manufacturer casting number that could help?? I'll do the work myself so any tips would be appreciated also thanks to everyone in advance.

There should be a circular red and silver tag attached to the rear of the Tcase, mounted to the drivers side of the driveshaft. If not missing, that should have the make, model #.

I didn't think there was a tag on it but I double checked and it's gone of the back. Any other ideas?

Default T-case

The case is probably a NP 241 dld The only seal would be where the slip joint goes in

For the "gasket" between the two halfs I use rv silicon and it can be a challenge getting it to seal

since your truck is parts built its hard to say what it is. If the Tcase came from a 98-01 3500 its prob a 241dhd. Some 2500s came with a dhd as well, but most I think had a 241 dld. As Megaram said, silicone will work well between the halves for sealing. I prefer an appropriate Permatex myself. You didn't say where it was leaking.

Ok thanks for the information, I believe it's leaking out of the front seal around the slip yoke but I'm not a hundred percent certain yet, I'm actually about to wash it right now. As far as them leaking between the two halves is that very common?

I don't know how common it is. I know I split mine to change the output shaft size, used permatex and it hasn't leaked.
