Default 04 Duramax LLY p0700 Trouble code

I was driving along about 45 and I was in 4th gear and my Allison must have slipped because I was stuck in 4th gear it would not shift up or down its an auto and when I parked and put it in park and when I went to put it in reverse its wouldnt go then about 4 hours later I was able to go through all gears then the check engine light went away only after i heard a small clunk or knock of some sort and then I took it to NAPA and had the code read and it said it was a something about the external shift solenoid. And it just happened again help.

Is your P R N D display the correct gear? That would be right on track with BriteWhiteRam.

Thank you so much TPD looks like even I could figure out how to replace the nsbu. Giving I know nothing about trannys do you think a normal person could do this.

Toughtrucks funny you should say that cuz everytime its happened to me its been below heck even 40 degrees. But it did do it once before I got the edge juice w/attitude.
