Yesterday I went to start my truck which i drove about a 100 miles the day before and it would turn over but not fire up, Just as though you were changing fuel filters.I thought uhoh then heard the aftermarket fuel pump kick on and run for about 15 to 20 seconds. I then proceded to turn the ignition on to let the pump charge the system a few times. after the 5th or 6th time truck fired up. Did not drive it. This morning went out to investigate and noticed what appears to be diesel on the bottom of front crossmember and truck wont start again. I just had a new transmission put in about six weeks ago at 200,000 and my aftermarket fuel pump is the Air Dog DF165 with adjustable regulator set around 17 to 13psi.What could it be ?

 

Not a cummins guy but it would seem that you have either a hole in a fuel line or something is leaking maybe from the trans swap? Didnt see any replies here so hope it is working now.

 

Verify Connector Tube and Connector Tube O-rings, Inlet on vp-44 and verify the overflow valve is functioning correctly (fuel pressure test should do the trick). Possibly a AN fitting worked loose. After that if i hadnt made progress I'd pull the codes and make sure I dont have anything like a 1688/216 or other VP Code

 

I would start at all the fuel lines going up to the injection pump to see if they let any loose when they did the swap or possible do fuel prssure test if you have the equipment if you have a check engine light use a code reader or since its a dodge flip the key forward three time to the run postion from the off postion and it will flash all the codes in the odometer

 

Alot of 99's wouldnt do the key flop, Not real sure why

Hi jaime z you should start a new thread of your own for your problem. It will get more attention that way. Our 02 7.3 is hard to start also and the only way we can get it to start cold is keep the block heater plugged in.
