Default 06 5.9 tranny problem

A couple times this last week while taking a turn the engine revved up and lost drive power, I assumed the trans fluid was a little low. I checked the level and it seemed fine. I towed a gooseneck a few hours to Houston last night with no problems. This morning I went to move the truck and the truck would hardly move. The engine was revving high, but the truck just crept along. Please help!!! Should I start with just changing the trans filter and fluid? Thanks!

I would start with a fluid and filter change. Sift through the oil for excess trash/metal filings, which will be a good indicator if something major is wrong.
If that doesn't do it, have your line pressure checked out. Could be that you have a clogged line.
Could also be either the pump, converter or both going bad. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Just got back home last night so didn't have a chance to respond. I noticed trans fluid covering the undercarrage, could my seal have gone out? I did have to add a couple quarts before I left Houston and it seemed to run better. I have never changed a seal myself (if that's what it is), is it something I can do myself or is it best done by a shop? I am really leary of taking my truck to the local transmission shop, my last cummins had some work done there and they bent me over.
