Default 89 Ford 7.3 Cold Start problems other threads do not cover

Hi all,

Lots of good information on this site about a hard cold start but still no success for this Ford.

The problem:
Hard cold start, excellent performance thereafter including restarts, however, the longer it has been since turned off the more cranking to start. First start of the day requires a shot of ether.

I have checked the glow plugs as many have suggested in other threads and all are up to specs

The batteries are strong

I cannot detect any air leaks pre-filter but there is a slight bubbling coming from a return line o-ring at one of the injectors, could this be the problem? Is there anything that I am missing?

Thanks in advance, there is a lot of great information here looking forward to a reliable start every morning,
Charlie

That my good friend becomes an air leak once the motor is shut off. I bet if you put on new o-rings and return lines all will work as expected.
