Default Question on Trans removal

In the middle of pulling my trans to replace the converter (smoked the lockup clutch).

It's been a few years since I have had one out. Does the starter need to come off to get to the converter bolts?? I vaguely remember a plate that needed to be removed but I can't find it.

FSM doesn't say, though as usually it's about worthless. Talks about V6 stuff in teh 47RE section. When was the last time V6 came with a 47RE????

There should be a plate on the passenger side facing toward the front, at the rear of the engine. Two bolts and it comes off.
