i have a 2003 chevy duramax. i drove the truck up from my barn to the house shut it off. came back out about 10 min later went to start and it clicked once then nothing. we thought dead battery so we jumped it(225amp) nothin. we checked the connections on the back of the starter and one on the seloniod was rusty. went to take the wire off and snapped the bolt. so my question is how does the selonoid come off? does the starter need repaired? and if so how the hell does it come out???

 

starter and solenoid are one piece. gotta buy the whole starter. had the same thing happen to me a few months back. the only way i could figure out to get it out once it was loose, was to remove the v-band clamp on the exhaust, and take the starter out thru the bottom. major pita.
