Default First Gen Running Rough and Popping through Air Filter

I need help IDK what just happened to my truck. I got off the interstate and thought it sounded a little louder than usual. It sounded like an exhaust leak but it got louder and louder and when I stopped and popped the hood, it was popping back through the airfilter. My EGT's were staying pretty hot and it feels like its missing. Sounds like maybe a burnt valve or something along those lines.

try loosening each injector line and see if you can figure which one it is and see if any of your exhaust ports are cooler than the othersand possibly could be a burnt valve

Sure sounds like a valve isn't sealing for some reason.

I think I've determined its the number 1 cylinder, the exhaust manifold stays cool right there. I took the valve cover off and everything is moving like its supposed to. IDK how you can burn a valve in a diesel especially when the EGT's didn't go over 800 on the whole 10 minute trip to school. I didn't hear the valve hit the piston so IDK

have you pulled the valve cover yet ive seen where the valve spring is broken and just kinda stuck open you would be very lucky if that was the case
