Question Steering Wheel Noise???????

Hey Fellas,
I have 01 Cummins 3500 91,000miles, My front end is pretty much t*ts!! I have all polly bushings, new ball-joints, tied-rods, hubs, ect... The steering is tight everything seems normal!! The problem is I am getting a winding/growling noise, almost like it is coming from the column. I can feel and hear it in the steering wheel on sharp turns. Any ideas? I grease everything normally, keep up everything, well maintained. Is there something in the column need to be greased, or maybe bushing replace?? Please help guys, my buddy says that a Dodge thing but he's stroking and full of sh*T!! Thanks

It sounds like something in the power steering gearbox or pump. Have you checked the steering fluid yet? It could be air churned up in the fluid.

Fluid is pretty clean, no bubbling or excessive heat that I know of. Its normal level at op.temp to. Never had to add any, no leaks. This was my fathers truck for 7yrs I just bought it last yr. Is there somewhere to check fluid in gearbox?

No there isn't. The pump feeds it to the gearbox. You could get a cheep mechanics stethoscope and listen to the pump and gearbox while someone is moving the steering wheel and try to isolate where the noise is actually coming from.

I don't think it's the pump sounds pretty normal, but Im going to check it out some more. I have been looking in dodge and cummins forums too, any1 else experience this??
