does it have fuel flow when it wont start? bump the ignition and leave the fuel filter drain open and see if its flowing fuel should spray out like a water hose. if it does then disconnect the fca (fuel control actuator) on the driver side of the IP. does it start if it does you could a faulty fca, internally leaking pump, or some more leaking injectors. Did the truck die while driving and had the intank conversion kit installed but no IP? if so chances are the cp3 pump is leaking pressure internally causing slow pressure build up. the cp3 is not very forgiving in the way of lack of lubrication. ive also seen lift pumps come and go as far as working, in combo with a fairly worn IP they will only build enough pressure to run with lift pump running if your lift pump is coming and going your truck may only start when its working. without proper scantools and test pieces further diag would be difficult at best but if your in the greensboro nc area i would be abliged to help with these tools and a small fee

Can you be more specific about the big, loud pump? Are you setting any codes? Cycle the key off, run, off, run, off, run and leave it. Engine codes will appear in the odometer.

get the name of lift pump. it would help if you had gauges on it to see pressures. still sounds like injectors to me.
