It might be the torque converter not releasing the lockup properly. I have worked on a couple of trannys that the converter would not release at all and every time you tried to put it in gear it would kill the engine.

P2509 and P2609

I'm betting the codes and the lockup problem is due to the batteries.

Try cleaning the battery terminals and see if that helps out, i had a buddy that his tranny was acting up and all we had to do was clean the terminals. Good luck.

Auto parts stores and battery shops have load testers and will check them free.

Youll have to pull them from the truck.

Batteries can cause this. With winter coming, getting them checked is a good idea anyway.

Make sure both batteries are fully charged if checking them!! A good battery will test bad if it is low / dead. If one ( / both) is low, check the electrical connections real well (Even on the alternator) and if you don't find any corrosion, check for a drain on the battery when the truck is off!

Let us know what you find. Hope the fix for this is as simple as a pair of Yellow Top Optimas!!
