the staked boxes have been on the truck since the truck was delivered to me....i have never had a problem till now, i have been looking at a dpf/doc delete and egr block plate, the new tunes will come from spartan or elite diesel.....the problem is that i dont know if the money im about to drop on the delete and tunes are guna fix my problem....or, should i spend the coin on returning the truck to stock ( aprox. $1000) and take it in??

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

also to respond to the regen q....i have driven the truck about 230 miles with both tuners on the truck, but had the edge turned all the way down.... i definelty could try the suggestion, all though i have driven the truck quite a bit around town with the cortex removed and the edge turned to 0 (stock).......so u want me to take the edge module completely off the truck, then drive till it regens????

yes. take all electronics that may interfere with the regen process off the truck and let the factory computer take over completely for a while and see if it will regen and clean the DPF out...

did it...only drove 20 miles but no regen, no codes either....but still lots of lag and only 25-30 psi of boost......consistant though, only thing..when i started the truck and let it warm up for a few minutes it had hardly no exhaust, and when i returned home it was blowin alot better...and HOT, that is what leads me to believe it is the DPF, the EGTs are hella high and it really runs like bubba has his size 13 in the tail pipe......just feels like there is a surious restriction some where.....i thought at first it was a egr problem but sources say the egr will not affect performance even if stuck ON, well how the F could that be true if the purpose of the egr os to put fresh off the manifold hot gases badk onto the intake charge....just saying that i know its b.s. becuase it wld be like eatin a big breakfast and going for a jog...well half way breakfast makes a run for it and your lookin for a place to squat...well if you ate that crap would you run faster?? N O !! hell u probably if the choice was yours wouldnt even consider eatin your sh-t ..know what i'm gettin at? nothin im hearing makes any sence!

IIRC it takes more than a 20 mile cruise for a full regen to take place. if it were me i would drive it 50-100 miles highway driving.... that should get it to regen and clean anything in there out.

You'll need to monitor some data to determine the root cause.

If you can monitor EBP, watch what it's doing when you rug the loud pedal. Put the truck on the limiter (3700rpm) and see what the EBP is doing.

List all the codes and we'll see what I can do to help ya out.

Where do you live? Do you have a modification friendly technician you're working with?

I work for a company that has a ford and a dodge for deliveries and my personal truck is a ranger with a mazda diesel. I have to keep all of them on the road working. A lot of the guys that post help suggestions here are professionals that work on fords as well as dodge and gm daily. Their choice of personal vehicle has no bearing on their knowledge of other makes. To think that since they drive a dodge means they know nothing about a ford seems a little narrow minded to me. The advice is given with sometimes limited information, and I for one have very bad long distance x-ray vision. The advice is meant to help give ideas to search for a solution, not as an absolute this is what is bad.
