Does it vibrate the same with the clutch pushed in? If it does it has to be engine related. It could be the balancer or the flywheel or possibly an injector problem but it sounds more like a mechanical out of balance vibration. One other thing I haven't seen mentioned is an out of balance fan or other belt driven device. You might take the belt off and see if it goes away.

Sorry, But this isnt true. A clutch can cause vibration even while disengauged.

I don't have much experience but did you check the motor mounts or transmission mounts. If there is no loss in power and clutch feels good. You would feel the throw out bearing in your foot. You will know. Just a thought. My first diesel just on a big learning curve. Although I restore cars and been a car guy for 40 years.

Thanks from the great white North

I realize that an out of balance clutch cover or a bad pilot bearing can cause a vibration but my point was more along the lines of pushing the clutch would positively isolate the vibration to the engine area or the transmission. I guess I should have worded it differently.

There ya go! Sorry if I sounded harsh, We try to provide members with the best information possible here.
One area where your idea dosent fit in is the DMF, AKA dual mass flywheel.
While it's vibration may change as pressure plate is released or engauged, The dual mass flywheel vibration isnt isolated by the clutch. You can Isolate the tranny, Input shaft bearings that type of thing, but the flywheel and pressure plate are still turning.

Lastly, This isnt a very common complaint, I'm sure there's somthing else going on here we're missing.

Again I appologize if i came accross harsh!

That is why we all post. With enough ideas something is bound to help solve the problem. I have found the site very helpful and hope I am helpful to others in the process.
