ok guys this issue has me flustered. the volt guage is at the first dash and was originally past the 14 mark a couple weeks ago. i tested tghe alternetor running with a volt meter and it was at 12.3 no matter what RPM. i made a jumper wire from the aleternator to the pos post and nothin. is this a shot alternator?

 

sounds like it, if its only charging 12 volts then yeah somethin with the alternator bad...

 

Time for a new one. Should be charging at 14 volts or so.

 

With the truck off, check battery voltage, then start up and check battery voltage with loads on, lights, wipers, blower, if the batt voltage is less than previous or less than 13.8 then you have a bad alternator,

 

case closed. i bit the bullet on a new alternator and its at 14
