Default 7.3 l loud popping noise

Hi has anyone ever had a very loud popping noise that increases with rpm and sounds like it is coming from air box?The truck starts fine but does run a little rough,it revs up fine and doesnt seem to be a noticable loss of power.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I should also add that it was -30 and the truck wasnt plugged in for 9 hours. When i turned it off it was running perfect and when i started it there was a very loud popping that got a little quieter as the truck warmed up but hasnt changed since then.

Leaking valve seat or popped head gasket.

It was actually 2 bent pushrods on # 2 and 4 cylinder that was caused by backpressure from a frozen catylic converter(so the mechanic says).Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Bent push rods... ok. Frozen cat... new to me. Even if it was I don't see it causing the bent push rods.
