Dont confuse the situation - this is a 12V - no real need to change the banjo bolts out.

Ryan, I would look real hard at the filter canister - there are a number of places that could be letterig air in. as well, I would make sure no air was getting in from the lines you replaced at the tank.

Look closely at the prefilter and the area around the fuel heater (in the filter housing). I dont know where you live but lots of guys eliminate that fuel heater as it is a common source of problems.

Its strange that it would even start if you have an air leak. Are you sure your fuel solenoid is pulling up all the way?? Also, did you bleed the lines to the injectors? Im curious because you didnt mention it.

I didn't check the houseing, maybe something is letting air in. I didn't bleed the injector lines, but the air is coming out from the banjo bolt bleed on the filter housing...

Ok It's snowing and I'm out side working and something dawned on me....and need helpt

It's not getting fuel. I crank and crank but nothing. And after a few min of cranking, i go to open the water drain and i get a hiss like i am letting a vaccum out. And it dawned on me...

The sender assembly in the gas tank has a screen on the bottom, if you take that off there is a black float or flange looking thing. I took that all apart yesterday to clean it all out. What if i put that flange ( black thing ) in backwards? Would that cause a block in my feed line. Thsus causing the no fuel issue, and the vaccum?

because when I primed the filter bowl with fuel it kicked right over, then after that I was getting air bubbles out of the bleed, which would happen if there was a little fuel left in the line...but now nothing, no bubbles, no anything.

So PLEASE somene let me know, if i put that in backwards would it stop my fuel line up and which way it was supposed to go it...

thanks

That I cannot tell you - I have never had mine apart. If you have to take it apart again, make sure you look at everything really close.

How much fuel do you have in the tank? You should probably have at least 10 gallons. You are most definitely going to need to bleed the line to the injectors (we an go over that when its time to do it).

Good luck.

i have a little less then a 1/4 tank. Prob just under 9 gallons. I tried bleeding the injector lines, but I am not getting fuel to my filter housing, I cycle it over and over, and crank it then just drips come out of my water seperator. So I'd have to imagine that no fuel is even making it that far..I just don't want to drop this tank again if i don't have to.

ok, that helps.

The problem must be downstream of the filter.

Somebody else jump in here - need more ideas.

well here is the plan, i am going to buy two new bolts for the gas tank straps, one is badly rounded and is the reason it took so long to get down. And I am going to drop it tomorrow.

I opened the bleed and primed it for 400 pushes ( cant feel my thumb ) and then opened the water drain, got the hiss and 3 little drops. so i am definetly not getting fuel to the filter,

So Something is wrong in the tank itself. I was wondering though do I need that entire assembly, or can i just cut the feed line, attach a hose and leave it in the bottom of the tank?

Either way it is comeing off tomorrow. And I will fix it then.

First, dont push the primer bulb with your thumb - thats too hard. Use a cut off broom handle or wood dowel - WAY easier. And you should not have to push it 400 times. 50 - 100 should be more than enough. Also, you should have the bleed openwhen you are pushing the bulb. When you see fuel coming out, close the bleed bolt. Theres no real need to open the water drain.

You could get a Vulcan drawstraw if you think the problem is with the pickup.

Are you sure you hooked the supply and return lines up correctly?

then there is def somehthign wrong with the pickup, because i primed and primed and primed....and then I'd open the water drain just to see if any fuel was pulled in. and nada. So no fuel is getting from the tank to the filter bowl. I think that the piece i put in is in back wards. It will only take an hour to pull the tank. Im gonna look into the vulcan now

Well it's 19 degrees out. Left the truck plugged in all night. Dropped the gas tank, again, opened the drain and blew air through to clear the lines. Then I took out the sender, took off the screen, and just like I thought that little float wasn't in right. There is a flange that sits in the pick up, but mine wasn't seated so as soon as the fuel pump would pull it would cover the entire pick up hole. So I got rid of it. Put it all back together, Cranked a few times to prime the system. bled the filter housing, and it cranked right over. Nice clean fuel and clean lines and it runs better then When I got it. Fuels up to 2700 rpm and drives great. Now I can go get that new interior put in.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their fast and helpful responses. Made my life a lot easier, between ideas, thoughts, and technical data you guys saved me a ton of time.

My truck is running great again, couldnt be happier.!
