Since there have been no updates, I will assume that this problem has been fixed. If not the thread starter can reopen it at any time.

I took my truck into a diesel speicalist and he said that my main fuel pump took a crap and was dumping extra fuel in my cylinders. Since I have neglected to fix the problem for a long time he said that it washed down my cylinder walls and took away the cross hached pattern on the cylinder walls. In turn this made my cylinder walls smooth and basically means I need a rebuild Then I talked to the mechanic that took a look at it and he said that he has had luck with just replaceing the fuel pump and that most of the time it will go for a long time. I am just curious if anyone else has heard of this problem and possibly the solution. If anyone can help please reply. Thanks for all of the good tips so far.

Jay, I hope they didn't take the heads off to look at the cross hatch. Just install the fuel pump, drive it till it's normal temp, check the crankcase breather or oil filler for blowby. Your going to have to buy a fuel pump anyways if yours is shot. Everyone here is looking for BLACK SMOKE, your lucky, I'd slap a turbo on it

Default replaceing the big expensive fuel pump

Turbo would be fun but I alredy have problems with getting to the job and all of my tools have been through a g force storm. Now I have the cowl off and have taken the air filter off and am ready to do the new fuel pump but I think my boss ate the chilton so I don't know where to go from here. If anyone could give me a link with prefribly pics or a youtube video it would be a tremendous help. Thanks for all of the good advice so far.

Since there hasn't been an update, I'll assume that this is resolved. Original poster can reopen if needed.
