Default problems-always problems / 24V Cummins Fueling Issue

What brought me to this sight was that I was doing some research on my vp44, trying to find out i'ff it is toast, or something else. Have beem working on it with my freind and a Haynes for the better part of 2 days. We are about troubleshot out! At first we thought the vp44 was junk then the dirn thing started up-and it ran, not good but, it ran. It blew so much white smoke I thought it had turned into a bug control rig, then all of a sudden the smoke stopped, and it ran for a little bit, all of a sudden it sounded like it was running out of fuel and lugged to a stop. Could not get that puppy to start till the next day, blew more smoke than the first time, verry aggravating. At the present it starts hard, blows smoke, clears up, will rev up, then coughs and dies, but will idol for a little bit.
We think maybe we have an air leak someplace. All input will and can be used so it will be appreciated, Thanks.

Your Lift Pump is Dead , And your Going to Burn up your Injection Pump if you keep running it , You need to Check your Fuel Pressure at the Test Port on the VP44

24V Cummins with a Stock lift pump and No Fuel Pressure Gauge = Ticking Time Bomb

Our Sponsors can Rush ship you parts to get your self back on the road ..
