Troubleshoot

Got a 2012 GMT900 C/K HD 3500 ran out of diesel and now have to use starter fluid to start. Need a Lil assistance troubleshooting. I've primed the fuel line manually at the bleedout valve as instructed and also from the key position 30 seconds turn off then on still got me scratching my head it was working fine before running out of fuel PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance
