Default 2009 E450 6.0 — P2290 & Stranded

Hey everyone,

I’ve scoured this forum and now I have to make my own post.

I have a 2009 E450 shuttle bus with the 6.0 V8 diesel. I picked this up from a township, had some issues at first with smoke, changed the oil, no problems. After a little I got a check engine light for a P2290 code. I had a mechanic check it out, he took it for a drive on the computer and diagnosed it as a clogged oil cooler, and suggested I get it fixed soon.

Since then, I was taking it really easy, under 2RPM. Yesterday I was driving, seeming to switch gears and I got a loss of power, could only hear what I assume is the turbo, and managed to get my way into a Walmart parking lot. Wouldn’t start back up.

Today, per advice, I changed the IPR and the gauge, tried to start her up and nothing. She cranks but won’t start. I don’t have a gauge tool to measure things and I’m at a bit of a loss as cars in general are not my forte. But, it’s left us a bit stranded and now I’m worried of throwing a bunch of parts and money at it with no avail. I tried unplugging the gauge and IPR and no change.

I appreciate any help,

Rick

If your oil cooler is plugged I would guess low oil pressure. Oil pressure is what makes the injectors work. No Oil pressure no fuel= no start. This is just my guess. It's 2022, buying a 6.0L pretty much means parts and money..these engines are getting a little old.
