Default 04 F250 6.0L won't start?

I had my 6.0 in the shop 1 1/2 years ago and had everything in the fuel system replace except the fuel pump. Recently I have had to wait longer to start it or it would just spin for a long time before it started. Then Monday night my son and I drove to Austin and back with no issues when we got home I parked and shut her down about 30 minutes later my son went to move it when it shut down on him in the street and wouldn't start again. It turns over but wont start and the oil pressure gauge on the dash doesn't move like it usually does. Will a bad oil pressure sending unit keep my truck from running? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It takes a good 5 or 6 seconds of solid cranking before the low pressure oil gauge moves on the dash, are you SURE it's not coming up? If not... probably the LPOP.

Could be a few things though. Make sure that gauge does or does not come up first. It will take a while (relative) for it to come up, like I said mine was like 6 full seconds last time I tried.

I cranked it for a good 10 seconds and nothing. To check the LPOP can I pull the oil filter and turn it over if I don't get oil its bad? Thanks for the help.

No, because there is a plunger that is spring loaded in the bottom that needs to be depressed.

I know it's a silly question, but have you checked the oil level in the engine?

Yes my oil level is good. How hard is the LPOP to replace?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

If I pull the oil pressure sending unit and then crank it would I be able to see if I had oil or does it have a safety feature also?

The gauge on the dash will move to normal position if it reads 5psi. The truck has to have around 750psi to fire. The injectors are oil pressure fired and if they don't the aliquot pressure it won't start. If the oil level is good there could be an internal leak caused by a leaking o ring or even the high pressure pump maybe going bad

In the oil filter housing use a socket on a extension to press down on the valve at the bottom. Then the housing should fill up around 5 seconds. Also the lpop is a easy fix biggest pain is pulling the fan clutch off.

525psi to fire the injectors is needed. The gauge on the dash is for low pressure oil, and is more or less independent of high pressure. It sounds like you know this, I just wanted to clarify it more for others. You can have low pressure oil reading on the dash, and no high pressure oil due to a leak, like you said, or even a failed high pressure oil pump. However, if there is no low pressure oil, there is also no high pressure oil.

If you're cranking and not seeing the gauge on the dash for oil pressure coming up, it pretty much is a guarantee it's the LPOP.
