Need help with a cummins ntc350 big cam compressor ss296
I'm completely new to reaching out on forums here. I bought a ford l9000 aeromax dumptruck off a guy that does carpentry work for my boss. I had borrowed the truck before I bought it, to haul gravel to my house. He only ran the truck in the summer and the pit is four miles from his house. Ran it last summer for two weekends over 600 miles in one weekend. Only issue was the coolant would evaporate off into the cab like it had a leaky heater core. I was not sure if it had a blown head gasket. So this winter I was fixing the rear running lights at my house in 30 degree weather 20s at night. I had the truck running an heard something break. Turned the truck off and thought I blew a connecting rod. Felt all the cylinders none hot but the compressor was. Took it apart, the connecting rod in the compressor was broken. Pieces everywhere of it..... bought another one, I used a bit of silicone on the gaskets an literally spun the front nut to the compressor off... I thought my issue was the silicone so I bought another. And only used the gaskets. When I replaced the first compressor I thought I got all the metal pieces out from the compressor area. Checked the teeth on the accessory drive none broken or chipped. I can't find detailed information on replacing the compressor an checking on how oil gets there. My uncle told me it's an oil bath. There are two Allenkey check ports I checked the top one not the bottom an found a gob of silicone in it. Any advice welcome.
