Default A/C compressor locked up

my ac compressor locked up yesterday and burnt the belt up and all that good stuff. my question is i went to oreillys to price a new one and they had one that with intercooler and one without intercooler. and 100 dollers in price differnece. but whats the difference? my truck is a 93 intercooled truck but why does that affect the compressor?

Who knows maybe how the lines come into the compressor. I will suggest a new versus rebuilt compressor, I put a rebuilt on my truck and it was junk 10 months later and then I went with a new one.

Intercooled mounts with 4 bolts straight through the compressor, into the compressor mount, Non-Iced mounts similar to how the alternator does.
Non-Iced also has a slightly larger pulley.

The pulley/bearing assembly to rebuild a Non-Iced A/C compressor is extremely hard to come by.

Be glad yours is intercooled.

Mark.

The water pump actually LOCKED UP?
There's one that doesn't happen every day.

no it didnt lock up
it just had alot of play in the pump and caused the belt to get all knarwled up.
i thought the ac was locked up and was what caused it, but that was a quick assumption cause i was in a hurry to get to school. i trailered it home the next day from where i left it and realized the ac was fine

At least it's cheaper than a new or reman A/C compressor.

Make sure you get ALL the bits of metal out of your system before firing it back up.
