Default Help Please ? piston question.

Finally pulled the head of today! once I got the head off I started to inspect things on the block and noticed 3 things, 1) piston #3 looks like at some point it may have hit a valve but not hard enough to crack it 2) there are markings showing that the block had been honed recently 3) my biggest concern of all, there is a little play in the pistons. none of the pistons come in contact with the cylinder walls and it almost looks like it's only the pistons moving not the the rings. I have never done any piston work on any engine gas or diesel so I am not sure if this is normal. Also I was able to notice that all the rings where clean and shiny so it is possible that all the rings have been replaced I just don't know if it was done properly... If anyone can shed some light on this or even point me in the right direction i would highly appreciate it because it will determine weather I will be taking the head to the machine shop or pulling the rest of the engine out and rebuilding it. Thank you all for your time !
