5.9 transmission issue?
I recently bought a 2003 Dodge ram 2500 5.9 it has 120,000 miles on it and it's In great shape. It ran smooth until yesterday when I put a bulldog ppe on it. For some reason it only feels like a minor boost in power and if I take off from a slow roll or a dead stop it almost feels like the transmission has a hard time keeping up. It will bump a few times as it shifts and the exhaust will virtually make no noise. Also i get only a tiny barely noticable puff of smoke. Sorry I know that's a vague description but I can't think of any other way to describe it. Anyone know what this could be please help. This same tune was on my 6.0 and it made a world of difference. Could this be a transmission problem? I really don't know what it could be the tune is on performance and is supposed to add 120 horses.
Bull dog ppe? Those are two separate companies but if you have a stock grabs with that much mileage on it your probably slipping the crap out of it. How does it drive with the truck put back to stock?
Def start looking into rebuilding the trans for what you plan to be using the truck for and what HP levels you intend to be at. But until then I would def turn the tuner down to and economy or tow tune and see if it likes that
also pull the trans dip stick with the truck running and trans in neutral to see if its at the proper lever and see if its burnt color or smelling
