Default Need help fast -- brake problems!

ok so as you may know from my previous posts, my ABS light and BRAKE light are on on my dash in my 2001 dodge. the passenger side has the abs sensor line thats been chewed through. it was like that when i bought the truck, just havent replaced it.

well today while downshifting from 6th to 5th going DOWN A HILL, the abs and brake light went off and then my brake pedal pushed my foot off of it. it got so stiff that i COULD NOT push it down to save my life. i had to jam it in 4th and get to the shoulder to avoid rear ending a car, and the brake pedal would not press at all or slow me down whatsoever. i had to stop without the brakes which meant gearing down completely then coasting to a stop...

i cannot afford to rear end someone or completely tear my truck all to hell from this happening.. i only have liability insurance.. needs to be fixed ASAP might be selling the ford in a day or 2!!

will changing the ABS sensor stop this, and also i thought when the ABS brakes quit working it changed back to normal braking. it has been fine until today. it did it twice.. the 2nd time was in my driveway and i had to stall the truck to keep from running over my dog...

23 people have never heard of this problem...?

Your booster isn't working so do you have Hydroboost or vacum boost ? It's not gonna have anything to do with the sensor.

Got ya, did some research and the first year to have hydro boost was '97.

I dont know what hydro or vacuum boost is. I spent hours searching for a vacuum leak on the ford

I didnt have the tools today to replace sensor so i just cut it where it was broke and taped the ends up seperate so they couldnt accidently touch. After doing that ive drove it all day and havent experienced the problem again. Maybe it was the sensor. It wasnt completely chewed through so im thinking it couldve been that. Any more input? I cant afford to be out of transportation i really cant!!!

Did the pedal kinda jump up and down a little bit, might have been the ABS kickin in.

well the pedal went completely stiff and pulsated like CRAZY, but it wasnt slowing me down at all.. i had to gear down so fast that i shoved it from 4th to 2nd and skid then stalled it to keep from rear ending someone (this morning)

the quick fix of cutting the broken wires and taping each end seemed to have work. drove all day today and didnt act up at all i think the wires were touching randomly as i was engaging the brakes and it mustve rushed fluid in there. i was literally STANDING on my brake pedal and it wouldnt budge an inch.

truly, a butt puckering experience
