Hard starting diesel engine
I own a 2005 Ford f-250 6.0 Powerstroke. It has 65K miles on it. Recently, it began starting hard. The engine just turned over and over. It seems to start first thing in the morning, but after that it seems like it is getting no fuel. I took it to my mechanic and they recommended new fuel filters. Those were replaced and it did start better, but it is not starting 100% in my opinion. This is the only diesel engine I have ever owned. I am mechanically inclined, but never studied or worked on a diesel engine.
I am thinking there may be something wrong with the fuel delivery or the fuel pressure.
Can anyone advise me on what to do next. I am retired and probably cannot afford to have the dealer fix it since I am over the warranty period.
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
