Back into smoke again
I had an '89 dually 2WD single cab that I louvered, Imroned, powder-coated bumpers and door handles, installed 518, installed straight-through muffler, installed 16cm hot side, and installed intercooler. I gave that up to get a '95 dually 2WD 5-speed, and installed BMW 14-way seats, air bags, and gooseneck hideaway hitch. Then with a move looming and heavy hauling in sight, I bought an '03 crew cab 4WD dually, installed leather, touch-screen stereo, hideaway gooseneck hitch. Then I got rid of my camper and my heavy equipment and decided to sell the '03 and bought a GMC Canyon 4WD quad cab. NOW after nearly forty years in Florida, I've decided to move back home to Alabama and I have a LOT of hauling ahead of me, so yesterday, I picked up a '93 dually extended cab 2WD for a couple grand. Engine is strong, 518 is rebuilt, rear end is rebuilt, tires are good, brakes are just done. Odo read 193,000. That's the good part. Body has major rust around the roofline, the wild 90's aftermarket paint job is fading and peeling. The aftermarket bucket seats are worn and torn and I don't have a CLUE where to get upholstery for them! Door panels are in bad shape and handles broken and pulled away. Door hinge pins are badly worn. Tires are mismatched. Injector pump leaks, brake booster leaks down, AC doesn't work, and power mirrors don't work. I'm taking care of the brake booster and injection pump, adding the pump spacer and swapping to a 16mm hot side. The rest can wait until I need it.

Thanks! I've been poring over the 1st gen posts here and elsewhere and made a plan: 16cm hot side, dynamic spacer, and 366 spring. That should get me over the steep grades north of Birmingham without cooking anything!
