The Off Road is acually better for your engine, Sulpher is a lubricant and the higher content in off road lubes your engine much better. However it's also not good for the environment, and as everyone else said, your pocket will take a beating at the slight chance you get checked.

The additives from off road diesel can stay around for some time. I would not worry about it as it only there for the ones that chance the colour of the diesel.
