Hello,this is a 04 F250 6.0, has only 138k miles, last month my car was consume water, and i have to refill every 45 days or 60 , and guy told me was the cooler of the EGR, the car over heat up to 3/4 and i stop the car right the way. after that the mechanic remove the egr and the cooler. now still liking water from the exhaust manifold the piston right front. the car drives good, just Consuming too much water and smoke steam. also was making a bad sound te starter and doesent want to start, i fixed the starter and still making the same problem, a loud sound like the flyweel was broken. or could be water on the cylinder?.... i am afraid to open the engine and replace the head gasket, people say that when you send the heads to the machine shop to brush the head most of the time they dont last. its tat true? or do think its better to replace the engine.

now i am thinkng to fixed, sell it and buy a Power max, is thath better?

when you have the heads machined it will last for a very long time. It is when you DON"T do the machine work it can fail. The most important thing to do is to use stock ford head gaskets, they are the best, and use studs instead of the bolts. The stock ford bolts are what causes the gaskets to leak so DO NOT USE BOLTS<<<< USE STUDS. yes it sounds like it is hydrolocking, the cylinder is gtting water in it and causing hard start, be careful because you can snap a rod if i is too bad. You can pull the glow plug on that cylinde to see if it has water in it, pull it then crank the engine over to see if water comes out.
